It is common for people to set goals as a new year begins. One of the most important goals that a Christian can set for themselves is a good daily devotional program. We see several examples in the Bible where God’s people set aside a daily time to be alone with the Lord. See for example, in Psalm 119:147-148.
In Daniel 6:10, we see an example of Daniel’s faithfulness in maintaining a good daily devotional program. Daniel set aside three special times each day to spend with the Lord. In fact, he did not allow the stresses of life to interfere with this time. Time with the Lord was too important for Daniel, just as it should be for us today.
“The most important part of a believer’s life is the part that only God sees, our daily private time of meditation and prayer. Most of the world begins the day looking toward the world and hoping to get something from it, but the Christian looks to the Lord and His promise and enters each new day by faith.”[1]
Setting goals is a good idea. Why not set the most important goal of daily time with the Lord as you begin this new year? Below are a few suggestions.
