Throughout Scripture, one of God’s characteristics is that He is a Protector. Whether it is His people, His plans, or His promises, He will protect them so that His purpose will be fulfilled. For example, throughout Scripture we see God protecting and preserving the Messianic line. The birth of Jesus is no different. In Matthew’s Gospel, God the Father is seen as the Protector of the Child Jesus.

We live in a world where people want recognition, credit, and applause for various accomplishments. However, for a servant of the Lord, we should be sure to give credit where it is truly due. We find an example of this in the pages of the prophet Daniel.  

Most of us know what it feels like to walk into a classroom on the day of a final exam. If we have prepared, then there is a general sense of confident optimism. On the other hand, if we are unprepared, there is a sense of anxiety or even dread. So, the same test brings the potential for either confidence or shame. In a similar way, the apostle John exhorts believers in 1 John 1:28 to be prepared for Jesus’ imminent return.

Often when we think of witnessing for the Lord, we naturally think of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. While this is often the case and very important, it is good to remember that how we conduct our daily lives is a witness, too.

Our world is marked by chaos, conflict, and uncertainty. No part of life seems untouched. For Christians, this should not surprise us, as Jesus stated that the world will be this way until He returns. In the Upper Room, Jesus made the disciples a promise of peace even as his disciples experienced hardships in a fallen world.
